Welcome to the Absegami High School Choirs page. Whether you are new to Absemgami or just haven't connected with us yet, we would love to have you as part of our choral program. Please see Mr. Zajdel in room 201 with any questions you might have, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
This year, Treble Choir (listed as "Chorus" in the course selection guide) focuses on building musical skills for less experienced singers, in addition to unison and two-part repertoire. Terble Choir serves as a voice class to help students develop their vocal technique and be able to audition for Select Choir in the following years. No audition is necessary to sing in Treble Choir, although past musical experience singing or on an instrument will be beneficial. Treble Choir meets during 3rd period.
Select Choir serves as the auditioned choral ensemble at Absegami High School. Admission is by audition. Students sing 4-part repertoire from a variety of time periods and musical styles. In addition to concert repertoire, significant attention is paid to developing sight-reading skills, tonal memory, and vocal technique. Select Choir performs at variety of events at Absegami in addition to its own concerts, and will travel this year to Rowan University both for the Men's Festival and the New Jersey ACDA High School Choral Festival, where students will be adjudicated by guest judges on selected concert repertoire and sight-singing. Select Choir meets during 4th period.
