This course at Oakcrest High School doubles as a dual-credit class for Stockton University!
This course examines the impact of genocides on modern history and the human condition. Comprehensive overview of all modern genocides of the 20th century: their causes and effects, historical context, victims and perpetrators, impacts on their societies and significance as a major challenge to overcome. Students will examine and grapple with mass killings and its constant surfacing throughout modern history. Students will also explore themes of ethics, identity, bystanders, groupthink and propaganda, manipulation and the psychology of perpetrators. Major focus will be on the Holocaust. For school year 2020- we will be all virtual until October.
